How To Achieve Exceptional Grades In Math, Science & Physics

December 5, 2018

Getting good grades in math, science, and physics is not easy. At the same time, however, it’s also not so rocket science. It is actually possible to excel in them and get high marks on all three subjects. All you need to do is to employ the right strategy.
Below, we ‘ll share some great tips that you can apply to your studying methods to help you excel in those subjects.

1.    Divide and Conquer

This might sound like a strategy for war and going into a battle. It could very well be. But, it’s also something that you can apply to your academics. Specifically, when you’re studying math, science, and physics.
For math, it’s important to focus on understanding the fundamentals; how each variable works and their relationship with each other. Meanwhile, for science and physics, focus on the “core material”. This includes the principles, theories, definitions equations and formula, illustrations, and so on. Although most exam questions may also include other materials like illustrations and anecdotes, they usually only compose a small part of it.
In general, when it comes to math, a majority of the exam (some 80%) come from the fundamentals. The same could be said for physics and sciences and the core material.
While, of course, there are other important factors that you need to consider and study, having a good understanding of the basics and core material makes everything else easier for you – that includes all the other materials.

2.    Practice, Practice, Practice

With math and physics, which involves a lot of problem-solving and logic, the more exercises you do, the better. In fact, the harder the exercises, the more you’ll learn.
You can start by studying previous exams and tests, and since these already contain the answer, it’ll be much easier to compare. Not only that, but because it’s similar to your usual test and exam conditions, you’ll become much more comfortable taking tests going forward.
As for science, flash cards are your best bet. Write important terms and their definitions on 4 x 3 cards (or smaller) and take them with you wherever you go. Use them to give yourself quizzes while you’re not doing anything, such as during your daily commute. But, if you’re more of an auditory learner, you can record yourself reading the terms and definitions out loud so you can listen to it over and over again.

3.    Work With a Study Group

The more, the merrier. Or at least, that’s how the saying goes, and it’s certainly beneficial when you’re studying math, science, and physics.
By working with group buddies, you’re able to actively employ certain strategies such as peer teaching and reciprocal questioning. In addition, you’ll also be able to diversify your perspectives on how to solve problems and answer questions.
Of course, these are just some of the things that you can do to help yourself do better in math, science, and physics. Some believe that physics tuition Singapore centres help, and maybe they can. Others swear by sticking a wall-sized poster that contains a summary of all of that you need to learn on to your bedroom wall or ceiling to help you do a recap.
Either way, these tips should help you achieve higher marks in some of the most difficult subjects in school.
