4-physics-concepts-everyone-should-know

Physics is a subject that is crucial for our daily life. Many of the concepts in physics play a huge role in the creation of the technology we use including computer and the internet.
At JC Physics Tuition students receive not just the usual subject education but a broader knowledge on physics and its various applications. Here are four important concepts in physics that everyone should know about.

1. Newton’s Laws

The three laws of Newton on motion explain the behavior of objects at rest and when in motion. Learning with us is an ideal choice for students to excel in physics. Here are some real life examples that can explain the laws in a better way.
Newton’s first law: A cart for instance, when on flat ground it stays put unless you push it. If you glide a hockey puck on the ice, it will eventually come to a stop because of the ice’s friction. It will also stop if it hits a player’s stick or skates.
Newton’s second law: It is less demanding to push a trolley that contains nothing than a filled one, it’s because the full trolley has more mass. This implies that more force is needed to move the full trolley.
Newton’s third law: A rocket pushes down into the ground with its potent engines, while the ground reacts pushing it upward using an equal but opposite force. A simpler analogy is when you release a balloon, the air rushes out and the opposite reaction is that the balloon flutters up.

2. Electromagnetism

This concept denotes forces formed by electrons present in specific states of matter on earth. The electromagnetic field consists of photons, which are in wave form or waves in particle form.
Example
The speakers which we hear during the school’s morning assembly is able to transmit the principal’s message over a long distance is a common application of an electromagnetic machine. The movement of the coil produces a sound which can be heard over a long distance.

3. Relativity

Relativity denotes behavior of all objects in time and space. This theory is used to predict many of the mysterious phenomena such as black holes, bending of light under gravity etc.
According to this theory,

  • The movement of an object, its speed and time is not an absolute measure, but always done in reference to some other object.
  • Lightspeed remains constant always
  • No object can move quicker than light

Example
The use of GPS navigation is based on relativity theory. The speed of the satellites is adjusted to the speed of the ground station on earth to get the right distance. Without using relativity theory, the accuracy of GPS would be absent.

4. Thermodynamics

This concept of thermodynamics explains the relationship between energy, mechanical work, and heat. This concept has four laws. These laws are formed on the basis of treating heat as a form of movement.
Example
When you put ice in a glass of warm coke and have forgotten about it 1 hour later, you will observe that the ice has melted and the temperature of the coke has dropped. This is due to the fact that the coke’s temperature simply gravitated towards equilibrium, where the ice and coke are of the same temperature. This is, of course, not permanent. The coke will ultimately become warm again, as warmness from the environment is transferred to the glass and its contents.
Application to real life example will dramatically improve the learning experience. Having the guidance of best physics tuition Singapore lets students have the best education in the subject.
